Taiwan Stainless Steel Sees Price Hike Amid Uncertainty
Taiwan's stainless steel mills have increased their prices for April, leading to a rise in the overall stainless steel market. The prices of 304 cold-rolled and hot-rolled coils have gone up, and market circulation prices have followed suit. However, the buying momentum has not picked up significantly, with downstream buyers adopting a wait-and-see approach and trading volumes remaining flat. The market outlook is uncertain, with China's stainless steel futures strengthening and raw material prices like ferronickel remaining strong, but international nickel prices falling. Market participants expect the short-term market to remain stable, but are cautious about the impact of international market conditions and policy changes, particularly the US-imposed reciprocal tariffs, which may lead to increased imports and affect subsequent trends.
